Bored perhaps with the drama in the impeachment trial in the senate, he was focused on local politics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When asked about the governatorial race, he was quick to say that the governor is safe in the 2028 elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why – nakakaon nag tagam ang kanhi gobernador ug kon ako sa iyang lugar, di na gyod ko mag-alig-alig pa og lansad kay klaro kaayo nga gilud-an ug giluwa na siyas mga tawo (his exact words.) He said the money, the capitol machinery and even his massive political machinery didn\u2019t help him then, it would definitely not work for him in 2028.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bisan og pakapinan pa niya og hinambog nga – \u201cits all over but the counting\u201d and \u201cpera-pera lang yan\u201d – also didn\u2019t work to clinch victory in past elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sure enough, he has allies, also former governors, but then again, they have been absent from the political scene for many years already, and they are not financially-well off right now because of some heavy medical and personal expenses, so I think they are not willing to challenge the incumbent governor in 2028.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Everybody knows that without money, lots of it, for the campaign kitty, maayo pay maglana og potot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, hayahay ang incumbent governor?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hmm, maybe, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is one problem though, he quickly added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If VP Sara will come out triumphant in her impeachment trial, and she runs for president in 2028 as she previously announced, he said, then it remains to be seen who she will pick as her governatorial candidate in the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because for sure, her candidate for governor will weigh heavily on the voters, especially if she actively campaigns for him or her, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Matod pa bitaw, he joked, kadtong kandidato nga makapakita og picture nga giisa ni Inday Sara ang iyang kamot maoy kandidato nga maka-pabor sa mga botante.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So that issue sure is the albatross on the neck of the incumbent governor right now. He has to seek strong connections to ensure he will get Inday Sara\u2019s endorsement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How about the congressional race, I asked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In one district, he said, the incumbent is cementing his hold on the youth votes which was the reason for his victory and the downfall of a political giant in the last elections. He might be doing this very well because right now, he is very visible and very generous in helping his constituents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One thing good about this guy, he added, he never shies away from helping those who come to him for help. This is one thing that endears him even more not only to the youth but also to the middle-ages and the seniors of course. Seldom can you see him without a quick and ready smile on his youthful face, he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But he faces problems though. One, he is identified with the incumbent president so it would probably take a miracle for him to worm his way to the camp of Inday Sara. And just like the incumbent governor, he added, it would remain to be seen if Inday Sara would be unforgiving to him and endorse him in 2028.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the other district, the incumbent has no viable and strong contender. Understandable kuno because they have been lording the district for many terms and years over. So sa mga nagplano mo-kontra, malagmit nakakaon na sab og tagam. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the other district, well it\u2019s a free zone because the incumbent is graduating, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It could be the husband or the father of the incumbent who will run, on one side, though it remains to be seen under whose presidential wing they will fly. Right now, they are openly identified with the incumbent president because they have been consistent beneficiaries of huge and multiple infra projects. And the contender, I asked, smiling as I thought I knew who he was referring to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The contender is probably an incumbent board member, who is openly and repeatedly seen in the company of those who were close to PRRD. This is probably the short-cut to getting Inday Sara\u2019s nod in 2028, I don\u2019t know, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whether or not the board member will eventually get it is still floating in the air. Nevertheless, it sure will be a battle royale because both camps are moneyed and they not \u201cboxers\u201d or \u201ckomkom pas tuway\u201d or tihik or inot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gets, he asked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
