TAGBILARAN City is putting youth voices at the center of climate action after convening student leaders from six colleges and universities for a two-day workshop. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Held on June 16-17, 2026 at Alta Bohol Resort and Convention Center in Baclayon, the Youth Workshop on Climate Risk Communication Plan Development focused on turning local climate data into community-friendly messages. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Students and faculty advisers worked together to map vulnerabilities across Tagbilaran\u2019s 15 barangays and draft campaigns that speak directly to residents\u2019 needs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The City Mayor’s Office Strategic Communications, City Youth Development Office, City Environmental Management Office, and City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office organized the event, with backing from Catholic Relief Services, Australian Aid, and Caritas International. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Participants reviewed climate risk data and current city efforts on environmental protection and disaster readiness to ground their plans in real local conditions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Organizers said the workshop empowers young people to create communication strategies and IEC materials that make climate information clearer and more actionable for neighborhoods. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In her message, Mayor Jane Yap stressed that community resilience depends on everyone, especially the youth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Climate change is a shared challenge, and our students bring fresh ideas for sharing information, mobilizing people, and pushing solutions that keep our communities safer,” Yap said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
