IN response to the national government\u2019s declaration of a State of National Energy Emergency under Executive Order No. 110, City Mayor Jane Yap has issued an executive order establishing the Tagbilaran City Crisis Management Committee (TCCMC) to address potential energy-related challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mayor Yap said the move is part of a whole-of-city approach aimed at ensuring energy efficiency, continuity of essential services, and coordinated action across all sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe act early. We act together. We act decisively\u201d, Yap emphasized, calling on the private sector, educational institutions, and other organizations to actively partner with the city government in implementing energy conservation measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mayor underscored that the energy situation presents a unique challenge, noting that nearly all aspects of daily life\u2014transportation, food supply, and livelihoods\u2014are dependent on energy and fuel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cUnlike COVID, this is a different kind of challenge because almost everything we rely on depends on energy and fuel. This affects us all,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the city\u2019s response, the local government will prioritize support for vulnerable sectors, including fisherfolk, farmers, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and low-income wage earners, to help protect livelihoods and sustain the local economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mayor Yap also urged residents to take part in the collective effort by conserving electricity and using energy responsibly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is a call for all of us to act\u2014to conserve electricity, to use energy wisely, and to do our part,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
