THE earth minerals processed and coming in Bohol are expected to be taxed fairly this year to boost the provincial government\u2019s income of over P40 million last year from the regular environmental\/extraction tax imposed on quarry and sand and gravel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bohol Mineral Resources Regulatory officer (BMINRO) head Engr. Ana Luisa Galicinao said that once the implementing rules on processed minerals are finalized this year her office will start taxing the processed earth resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan earlier amended the sand\/gravel and quarry ordinance taxing fairly those processed limestone in Garcia-Hernandez sold locally and those sand\/gravel coming from other provinces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It will be recalled that the province targeted gross revenue of P16 million but only realized P4,149,312.01 in 2019; target P16 million, realized P13,811,347.50 in 2020; target P16 million realized P8,028,137.00 in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2022, gross target of P20 million, realized PP3,927,000 (Jan-June) and P12,866,000 (July-Dec); target P40 million, realized P40,168,748.40 in 2023; target P40 million, realized P48,847,851.40 in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
BMINRO posted a total of P40,576,244.00 revenue in 2025 from regular quarry resources. From this, a total of P15,005,569.40, or 30% as province share, according to the BMINRO report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In sharing of total mineral revenue, the provincial government and municipal government get a share of 30% apiece and 40% goes to the barangay where the quarry is located pursuant to the Local Government Code.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
BMINRO said there are 25 approved permits of the total 55 permits (sand\/gravel – 11 and quarry \u2013 44). With this, 40 areas were verified on applied ones and 26 assessed and evaluated\/permitted last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In its daily monitoring work, BMINRO impounded some 48 equipment and vehicles apparently for lack of documents of the 275 areas being watched. There were three areas being rehabilitated but was not identified where they\u2019re located.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
