CARMEN, Bohol \u2014 Mayor Conchita \u201cChe\u201d Toribio – delos Reyes wanted the youth to actively engage in farming to apparently counter the diminishing aged farmers to take burden in agriculture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This, she stressed, as the town is celebrating its 157th foundation day March 2 held at the town\u2019s plaza fronting the Catholic church where the program and showcase of farm products of each of the 29 barangays were held.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mayor in her speech urged the Municipal Agriculture Office and the Department of Agriculture to develop programs that would lure the youth into engaging in farming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI really want to revive our agriculture. Let us start here in the town of Carmen,\u201d the mayor said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gov. Aris Aumentado, along with Vice-Gov. Nick Besas, expressed optimism to focus on agriculture under his second term administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To complement this vision, Aumentado announced that sometime next month bigwigs of PureGold to visit here to find a place where it can build its branch in this central town. PureGold has already put up a store in governor\u2019s hometown of Ubay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also announced that he envisions to build an economic zone here to the applause of Carmenanons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFarmers from the town\u2019s 29 barangays showcased and sold their produce at affordable prices during the event, drawing strong support from residents and highlighting Carmen\u2019s solid agricultural foundation,\u201d Bohol Island News digital said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
