TWO-HUNDRED Fifty-Six (256) beneficiaries from the city\u2019s 15 barangays received the Php5,000.00 financial assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development Office (DSWD) thru its local counterpart, the City Social Welfare and Development Office on May 20, 2022 in Brgy. San Isidro covered court. City Mayor John Geesnell \u201cBABA\u201d Yap along with Brgy. Kagawad Emilio Simbajon attended the aid distribution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mayor Yap thanked the DSWD for the assistance. \u201cThis would definitely help the recipients in their financial needs and could even provide start-up capital for setting up a small business,\u201d Mayor Yap said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to DSWD, a 2nd pay-out for the next batch of beneficiaries is to be scheduled soon<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A month ago, the DSWD provided eligible individuals with livelihood assistance grants (LAG), a form of financial assistance granted to families whose livelihoods were affected by the implementation of the community quarantine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gindy Ferolino, DSWD Administrative Assistant 2 and Lenibeth Algame DSWD Project Development Officer 2 facilitated the pay-out. More than 700 beneficiaries benefitted from the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program prioritized households with low-income or whose small business has been affected by the pandemic. Moreover, fifty-eight women (58) also received livelihood assistance from the CSWD. These women were trained under the CSWD\u2019s training and education arm on food processing led by Anelsa Sumalinog. Out of the 58 women, 37 recipients who have an existing small business and SAP (Social Amelioration Program) beneficiaries were handed Php15, 000.00 each to help infuse capital to their existing enterprises. While the remaining 21 recipients received the Tocino and Longganisa Livelihood Starter Package which included 15 kilos of meat, cooler, and food processing ingredients.
