THE City Government of Tagbilaran officially switched on new street lights along Palma Street, located behind the University of Bohol, in a simple ceremony on January 20, 2026 aimed at improving public safety, security, and convenience for residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The switch-on ceremony was attended by Congressman John Geesnell Yap II, who represented Mayor Jane Yap, City Engineer Teodoro Estoque, Barangay Captain Ramon Duroy, Jr. and Barangay Officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mayor Yap expressed hope that the improved lighting would significantly reduce traffic accidents and provide added protection for residents traveling along Palma Street and students from nearby University of Bohol, Bohol Island State University and BIT International College.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In her Facebook post, Mayor Jane also highlighted future plans to complement the lighting project with the installation of CCTV cameras in strategic areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The combination of proper lighting and surveillance is expected to further enhance safety, deter criminal activity, and ensure that Tagbilaran City remains a secure and livable community for all residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mayor Yap announced that under the 2026 city budget, more street lights will be installed across Tagbilaran City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The plan includes repairing and replacing old street lights, as well as installing new lighting in poorly lit areas to further enhance public safety and convenience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The project is being implemented with zero loans, demonstrating the City Government of Tagbilaran\u2019s responsible and sustainable approach to development projects without borrowing from any banks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
