Tagbilaran City bags the prestigious Andres Bonifacio Award for its outstanding efforts as the Visayas Center for Health Development’s voluntary blood donation hub. TAGBILARAN City has been conferred, for the first time, the prestigious Andres Bonifacio Award in recognition of its outstanding commitment to voluntary, non-remunerated blood donation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The award, presented by the Department of Health (DOH)\u2013Central Visayas Center for Health Development, was formally handed over in a ceremony held at the City Mayor\u2019s Office on September 16, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vice Mayor Adam Relson Jala received the award on behalf of Mayor Jane Yap, together with City Health Officer Dr. Jeia Pondoc, City Blood Donation Focal Person James Bompat, and Mr. Robin Culpa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Andres Bonifacio Award is one of the highest recognitions given to local government units that demonstrate exceptional support for public health initiatives, particularly through their active participation in the National Voluntary Blood Services Program (NVBSP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tagbilaran City earned the award by ranking 28th in Region 7 and achieving 1.15 percent of its voluntary blood donation target in 2024, a remarkable milestone that underscores the city\u2019s steadfast dedication to saving lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mayor Yap, in her message, expressed pride and gratitude to the health workers, volunteers, and citizens whose collective effort made the recognition possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis award is a testament to the compassion and solidarity of the people of Tagbilaran. Our success in blood donation drives reflects the true spirit of bayanihan, where every drop of blood given is a chance at life for someone in need,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This recognition highlights not only the effectiveness of Tagbilaran\u2019s health programs but also the power of community-driven advocacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
