THE City Government of Tagbilaran, through the Tagbilaran City Youth Development Council (CYDC), officially launched Linggo ng Kabataan 2025 on August 17, 2025 at the City Hall Atrium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This activity marks the city-wide send-off of youth-centered activities to be implemented across barangays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is also in line with the celebration of the United Nations International Youth Month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the theme \u201cLocal SDGs and Beyond,\u201d this year\u2019s launch stood out as it was entirely spearheaded and facilitated by the CYDC, composed of youth organizations across Tagbilaran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From planning to execution, the event highlighted youth leadership and participation in action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program began with a vibrant parade led by Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Barangay Councils and CYDC members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was graced by City Councilors Hon. Jose Floro Ringca, Hon. Christian Merick Blanco, City Chief of Staff Cathelyn Torremocha, City Youth Development Officer Marbert Remolador, and guest of honor First District Congressman John Geesnell \u201cBaba\u201d Yap II, who was once a youth leader himself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the launch, each SK council presented its line-up of activities for the coming days, ranging from sports and cultural events to programs aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The highlight this year centered on SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, with a focus on raising awareness on HIV and AIDS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Robin Culpa of the Tagbilaran City Primary Health Care Facility, delivered the keynote address, shedding light on the realities of HIV and AIDS in Tagbilaran City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He noted that many confirmed cases are among the youth, underscoring the importance of prevention, education, and proactive health initiatives within barangay-level programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The day\u2019s activities culminated in the formal declaration of Linggo ng Kabataan 2025 by SK Federation Vice President Hon. Mafe Noreen Climaco, signaling the official start of the week-long celebration across Tagbilaran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

City Mayor Jane Yap commended the SK councils and the CYDC for taking the lead in shaping meaningful programs that reflect both the aspirations of the youth and the city\u2019s development goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through Linggo ng Kabataan, we see how powerful youth participation can be in driving change, building healthier communities, and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. The City Government will always be your partner and supporter in every step you take toward a brighter future for Tagbilaran,\u201d the Mayor said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As mandated under Republic Act No. 10742 or the SK Reform Act of 2015, Linggo ng Kabataan is celebrated annually by cities, municipalities, and barangays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
