THE City Government of Tagbilaran received two major commendations from the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council during the culmination of the 2025 National Disaster Resilience Month, held on August 4, 2025, at D\u2019Prince Hall, Golden Prince Hotel and Suites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tagbilaran City and the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) were recognized for their active support and participation in regional disaster risk reduction programs, and for their commitment to fostering a culture of safety, resilience, and preparedness in Central Visayas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among all cities in the region, Tagbilaran was one of only four to receive the distinction\u2014and one of only two awardees from the Province of Bohol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Marko Emmanuel Longjas, Head of the CDRRMO Research and Planning Division accepted the plaques of recognition on behalf of Mayor Jane Yap and CDRRMO Head Gerard Lavadia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The awards highlighted Tagbilaran\u2019s consistent implementation of inclusive and responsive DRRM practices, which include community-based drills, capacity-building workshops, prepositioning of supplies, and strong coordination with civil society and emergency response organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement, Mayor Jane Yap expressed gratitude for the recognition and reaffirmed the city’s commitment to disaster resilience. \u201cThis is a shared victory. It reflects the dedication of our DRRM teams, partners, and the people of Tagbilaran. We will continue to invest in systems, partnerships, and grassroots-based preparedness to protect lives and secure a safer future for all,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tagbilaran City has been a consistent awardee of the prestigious Gawad Kalasag Seal of Excellence \u2013 Beyond Compliant Local Government Unit Award for both 2023 and 2024, solidifying its status as a consistent DRRM awardee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These recognitions reflect the city’s unwavering commitment to disaster risk reduction and management, as it continues to enhance its preparedness through improved early warning systems, upgraded evacuation logistics, and the integration of DRRM education at the barangay level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
