IT is a fact that the use of cell phones is very advantageous to a person\u2019s daily activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More specially if one is preoccupied with so many activities, both private and official. He needs the services of a cell phone if only to accelerate the swift compliance of the daily schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Short Cuts is never an exception to this phenomenon. He is extra busy in his daily chores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is a farmer with his farm in an interior town of the province which is more or less 65 kilometers from the city. He too, is a school administrator. So, he needs a cellphone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But to use the cell phone for purposes other than that mentioned, is a total departure from the reason and purpose why the same gadget was founded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That is the simple reason why, Short Cuts is always envious of people whose attention is always on cell phones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And, please kindly take note. Even in the early hours in the morning, a person\u2019s fingers are already busy in maneuvering the keypad of his cell phone. This condition usually continues in the whole morning, the whole afternoon. Even until supper time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Worse is the scenario at the dining table. More often, they easily forget the prayers of thanks for the food they are about to partake. But they never forget to bring the cell phone to the dining table.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To put it bluntly, one\u2019s attention is always on the cell phone. It\u2019s more important than the prayers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And, an experience that can be told now . . . .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Short Cuts\u2019 first year stay at his office as the second highest elected official in the province, he chanced in one of the senior high school class in the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was a sad thing to witness . . . .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the teacher was busy and patiently explaining the subject matter, around five students were also busy scanning their respective cell phones!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their attention, the minds of these five students were nowhere to be found. At least, their physical attendance was recorded by the teacher –  that they were inside the classroom.  But their mental presence was absent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The teacher, although may have noticed the behavior of these five students, never gave attention to what he had observed. He just went on with his discussion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Has there been learning process gained by these students?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Definitely, NONE! And, all because of a cell phone?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And, who are at the losing end? The students, their parents, or the teacher?        <\/p>\n\n\n\n
