CORTES, Bohol (PIA) \u2014 The Office of the Provincial Veterinarian (OPV) has reported that 56 barangays in Bohol are now affected by the African Swine Fever (ASF).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
OPV operations officer Romulo Garcia said from the total affected barangays, 12 cases have tested positive for ASF.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOf the 56 barangays that are still affected by the ASF, based on their results, 12 cases have shown PCR positive results of the virus, while the rest are ruled positive of the virus based on mandatory rapid tests for sick animals and those within the vicinity of the farm pen with a positive case,\u201d said Garcia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) is a laboratory test used to detect the presence of the ASF virus in samples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe 12 PCR positive cases of the ASF virus are now traced in one of the six active ASF cases in Buenavista, one of the five cases in Getafe, all three cases detected in Talibon, all of the two cases in Trinidad, all three cases in Dagohoy, and two of the six cases in Ubay,\u201d Garcia added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 2nd District towns and barangays with ASF-hit areas include 11 barangays in Getafe (Poblacion, Campao Oriental, Sto. Nino, Saguise, Tolang, Taytay, Carlos P. Garcia, Tugas, Salog, Mahanay, Jandayan Norte and Cangmundo); 6 in Buenavista (Lubang, Lusong, Nueva Granada, Poblacion, Cantores and Cruz); and Barangay Estaca in Dagohoy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Garcia also identified 5 affected barangays in Talibon (San Jose, Sto. Nino, Rizal, San Francisco and Tanghaligue); 4 in Trinidad (La Victoria, Soom, San VIcente and Kinan-oan); and 9 in Ubay (Katarungan, Union, Tipolo, Bood, Fatima, Camambugan, Imelda, and Sinandigan.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Also affected by the virus are 3 barangays in Bien Unido (San Pedro, Tuburan, Poblacion); 1 in Inabanga (Cogon); and 2 in Sagbayan (Canmaya Centro and Canmano).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the 1st District, areas affected by the ASF include 1 barangay in Catigbian (Maitum); 1 in Tubigon (Bosongon); 2 in Sikatuna (Bahay-bahay, Badiang); 1 in Balilihan (Datag Sur); 1 in Alburquerque (Dangay); 2 in Calape (Mandaug and Sta Cruz); and 2 in Dauis (Sungcolan and Mayacabac).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
