REPUBLIC Act No. 7610-An Act Providing for Stronger Deterrence and Special Protection Against Child Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination, and for Other Purposes has something to do with Child Protection Policy. By having a child protection policy in place, organizations and individuals can work together to safeguard children and promote their well-being. A child protection policy is essential for: protecting children and ensuring children’s safety and well-being; building trust and creating a safe and trustworthy environment for children; and preventing harm and preventing child abuse and neglect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A child protection policy is a set of guidelines and procedures designed to protect children from harm, abuse, and neglect. It outlines the responsibilities of individuals and organizations working with children to ensure their safety and well-being. By combining child protection policies and positive discipline, we can create a safer and more supportive environment for children to thrive. Positive discipline is an approach to discipline that focuses on teaching, guiding, and encouraging individuals, rather than punishing or controlling them. It aims to promote self-regulation, responsibility, and positive behavior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DepEd Region VII is very fortunate that RO VII top management conducted an Orientation on Positive Discipline Learning Action Cell (LAC) Session Guides (RM 0293, s. 2025, dated March 26, 2025), last April 23-25, 2025, at DepEd EcoTech Center, Lahug, Cebu City.  This activity was attended by selected Education Program Supervisors, Public Schools District Supervisors, School Leaders, and Teacher Representatives from the twenty (20) SDOs of Region VII.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is expected that the concepts learned would be cascaded in at the divisions, districts, and school levels. The said three-day activity aimed ensure that the participant shall be able to: a) know and understand the DepEd policies, programs, and issuance related to Learners\u2019 Rights and Protection; b) develop the necessary skills in providing timely and appropriate actions (discipline or interventions) and resources in managing and handling incidence of serious and complex LRP-related cases; c) equip the participants with the required knowledge, skills and attitude in providing appropriate positive discipline; d) strengthen the use of positive discipline as behavioral management technique in schools; and e) appreciate the value of positive discipline. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rubio, served as the Resource Persons during the region-level acitvity for the twenty school division offices in the Central Visayas under the leadership of RD Salustiano T.
