A HISTORIC milestone unfolded on April 4 as the Local Government of Jagna, in partnership with the Department of Agriculture (DA), officially broke ground on the Jagna Integrated Potable Water System (PWS) \u2014 a long-awaited solution to one of the municipality\u2019s most pressing needs: clean and sustainable water supply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Funded through the DA-Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) Scale-Up, the project comes with a substantial investment of \u20b1244 million, poised to benefit 5,929 households or nearly 28,770 residents across 30 barangays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFor the first time in over a century, we are witnessing real, transformative change,\u201d said DA-7 Regional Executive Director Angel C. Enriquez during the capsule-laying ceremony. \u201cThis project is not just about infrastructure\u2014it\u2019s about improving lives, ending a generations-long water crisis, and restoring dignity to the communities of Jagna.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new water system will not only serve households but will directly support 1,414 farming families and 45 fishing households, critical sectors in Jagna\u2019s local economy. Designed to provide 24\/7 access to potable water, the system is expected to significantly reduce time spent fetching water, improve health outcomes, and enhance overall quality of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jagna Mayor Joseph A. Ra\u00f1ola, who led the ceremony, shared how the project stemmed from years of planning and advocacy. \u201cWater scarcity has long burdened our people. Today, we move forward. This is a victory for every Jagnaanon, especially in our upland and remote barangays.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 30 beneficiary barangays include Alejawan, Balili, Boctol, Bunga Ilaya, Bunga Mar, Cabungaan, Cambugason, Can-ipol, Canjulao, Cantagay, Cantuyoc, Can-uba, Can-upao, Faraon, Ipil, Kinagbaan, Laca, Larapan, Lonoy, Looc, Malbog, Naatang, Nausok, Pagina, Pangdan, Poblacion, Tejero, Tubod Mar, and Tubod Monte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The groundbreaking was also graced by Vice Mayor Teofisto Pagar Jr., barangay captains, LGU department heads, project contractors, and partner agencies. DA Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel is also scheduled to visit the municipality in support of the initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
