THE City Government of Tagbilaran, led by Mayor Jane Yap, marked another milestone on March 19, 2025, with the groundbreaking ceremony and Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing for the construction of the Tourist Rest Area (TRA) at the Tagbilaran City Friendship Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This significant event, aimed at enhancing tourism and providing convenient facilities for visitors, was graced by no less than the Secretary of the Department of Tourism (DOT), Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco, along with other distinguished officials and stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Together with Mayor Yap and Secretary Frasco in the groundbreaking ceremony were Atty. Filipina Piollo representing Bohol Governor Erico Artistotle Aumentado, Vice Mayor Adam Relson Jala, First Gentleman John Geesnell \u201cBaba\u201d Yap, Ms. Carissa Garcia of Ako Bisaya Partylist, DOT Undersecretary Ferdinand Jumapao, DOT Assistant Secretary Judilyn Quiachon, ACOO Gregory Oller of the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority, and DOT Region VII Director Judy Gabato.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mayor Yap warmly welcomed the guests and expressed her gratitude for the strong partnership between the local government, national agencies, and stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In her message, Mayor Yap expressed her optimism for the project, stating, \u201cThis Tourist Rest Area is a testament to our dedication to providing a welcoming and convenient space for tourists visiting Tagbilaran. It is a product of collaboration and shared vision with our partners in the national government and stakeholders who all aim to boost our tourism industry.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following the groundbreaking ceremony, a program and MOA signing was held at Bohol Tropics Resort with Secretary Frasco, TIEZA ACOO Oller, and Mayor Yap affixing their signatures to formalize the partnership for the establishment of the Tourist Rest Area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Witnesses to the signing included Atty. Piollo and City Vice Mayor Adam Relson Jala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The program proceeded with the turnover of the Tourist Rest Area Scale Model by Secretary Frasco, symbolizing the project’s future realization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mayor Jane Yap also presented a token of appreciation to Secretary Frasco as a gesture of gratitude for her unwavering support for the city\u2019s tourism initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Additionally, Secretary Frasco awarded Community Tour Guide Kits to local guides, showcasing the DOT\u2019s commitment to enhancing tourism services and empowering local communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
