AFTER 16 years of being classified as a third-class city, Tagbilaran City has officially advanced to the status of a second-class component city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Department of Finance (DOF) confirmed the reclassification under DOF Order No. 074-2024, issued on November 5, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The milestone follows the implementation of Republic Act No. 11964, also known as the Automatic Income Classification of LGUs Act, which streamlines the income reclassification of local government units (LGUs) based on their financial performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tagbilaran City now falls within the income range of P1 billion to less than P1.3 billion, a significant leap from its previous classification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The city has been categorized as a third-class city since 2008, despite its steady economic progress over the years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
