THE City Government of Tagbilaran is granting a two-year amnesty on penalties, surcharges, and interests for all unpaid real property taxes (RPTs) accrued before June 2024. The initiative, announced by Mayor Jane Yap alongside City Treasurer Hubert Inas, aims to encourage taxpayers to settle their principal real property taxes and boost revenue collection for the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

City Treasurer Hubert Inas explained that the amnesty applies to unpaid RPTs on land, buildings, and machinery in Tagbilaran City, which were previously penalized with surcharges for late payment. With the waiver, taxpayers can clear their outstanding balances without additional financial burdens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mayor Jane Yap urged delinquent taxpayers to take advantage of the program by visiting the City Treasurer\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis amnesty is a great opportunity for property owners to settle their taxes without worrying about penalties. It\u2019s also a way to support the city\u2019s revenue collection efforts, which will ultimately benefit our constituents,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under Section 30 of Article V, Republic Act No. 12001, the Real Property Valuation and Assessment Reform Act grants a real property tax amnesty covering penalties, surcharges, and interests on all unpaid real property taxes, including the Special Education Fund, idle land tax, and other special levy taxes, incurred prior to the effectivity of the Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The amnesty period runs until July 4, 2026, giving property owners ample time to settle their dues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To avail of the tax reprieve, taxpayers must provide the following documents: 1) Copy of the tax declaration of the property; 2) Special Power of Attorney or a sworn statement if represented; and 3) photocopy of a government-issued ID of the property owner or representative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
