BOHOL on Tuesday marked the 11th anniversary of the 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck Bohol Island and the entire Visayas region, causing over P2 billion in damages to buildings, infrastructure, and properties, and resulting in more than 200 deaths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At 8:12 a.m., the moment the earthquake hit, bells rang, and in the capital the sirens came to halt for 33 seconds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his Memorandum Circular No. 2024-0037, Bohol Gov. Aris Aumentado asked the people to offer prayers for those who perished during the tremor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The governor added that the event reminded everyone to glorify Him and love our neighbors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1st district Rep. Edgar Chatto, who was governor then when the quake struck the province, thanked those who have worked so hard for Bohol to achieve full recovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201dMost of all, we are grateful to God for giving us strength to carry on in rebuilding our lives,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bishop Abet Uy of the Diocese of Tagbilaran said that the 7.2 magnitude earthquake tested the faith and resilience of the Boholanos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLet us remember that through the darkest of times, the light of hope and solidarity shines ever brighter. The strength and unity of our community have shown the world the unwavering spirit of Boholanos,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added, \u201cIn our shared faith, we find solace and strength. May God\u2019s grace continue to guide us as we rise from the ashes and build a stronger, more resilient Bohol. Together, we are a testament to the power of faith, hope, and love.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
