Following the filing of certificate of candidacy (COC) for various positions from October 1 to 8, many political aspirants, either as first-timers, returnees or re-electionists have again started their usual bolatik <\/em>game, the most common of which is \u201cgusto moserbisyo sa katawhan.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Everybody, including their lolos <\/em>and lolas<\/em> and their apos<\/em> and pag-umangkons,<\/em> are aware of the bola-bola<\/em> routinely spewed by the political aspirants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And wonder of wonders, maminaw ra pod ang mga tawo, pitok-pitok pa ag mata.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

And to think that this is the usual routine every 3 years, for many, many years now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two aspirants were discussing their respective postures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One aspirant for mayor said he decided to run for mayor because he is like the king of the town, nobody rules the town better than the mayor, especially if he controls the sanggunian <\/em>and the majority of the barangay captains as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said as mayor, his wish is everybody\u2019s command.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Plus, he added, there is that added incentive that being the mayor means controlling all the financial shenanigans of the town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So when there is an infra project in the town, the SOP flows naturally, even without need of a demand. The contractor\/supplier\/provider knows that the SOP is part and parcel of the \u201cbusiness expense\u201d and the amount set aside is already computed as part of the total package of the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This means that the mayor also gets the chance to recoup his expenses during the campaign, plus answering too, the other needs\/demands of his constituents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And then he asked his colleague – ikaw bay, nganong gusto man kang mag-provincial board (PB)?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hayahay ra man god ang trabaho og board member, barong-barong lang kada ting-session, maminaw lang, sagbat-sagbat pod usahay sa storya, unya kon walay masulti maghulat lang og \u201cI second the motion\u201d or \u201cI move to close,\u201d di ba hayahay na,<\/em> he retorted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unya ang gasto, unsaon na man lang, dugang pangutana.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ah, bahala na oy, total duna may mga tawo nga andam motabang kon hangyoon lang.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Magsalig ra diay ka sa uban, wa diay kay imong kaugalingon nga gasto?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
