BLCI informed is clientele \u201cthat the effective electricity rate of BLCI for the August 2024 billing period is P12.82\/kwh from P10.99\/kwh for residential and P12.47 from P10.66\/kwh for commercial consumers. The slight adjustment is due to the volatility of prices in the spot market.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The electric distribution utilities in the province have posted the increase in the power rates separately and collects them from their respective area of coverage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bohol Electric Cooperative I and II raised their power rates \u201cdue to higher cost of electricity purchased from Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM),\u201d according to their respective announcements in the social media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
BOHECO I raises the residential power rates to P11.43\/kilowatt-hour effective in August from P8.47\/kwh in July, or a difference of P2.96\/kwh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
BOHECO II, on the same vein, imposes higher than BOHECO I with P13.96\/kwh in August, higher than July\u2019s P10.26, or a difference of P3.70\/kwh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was not immediately known why the 2 BOHECOs have no uniform power rates imposed on its end-users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The high rates of the so-called generation rate, transmission rate, systems loss and value-added tax (VAT), which are all considered as monthly variables, are described as \u201cpass-through charges\u201d against the consumers, BOHECO II said in its information to its clientele.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Recently, the Primelectric Holdings, Incorporated (PHI), a subsidiary of Razon-led firm More Power electric and Power Corp., becomes the owner of the 70% shares of the Bohol Light Company, Inc.
