The BOHOL TIMES rolled off its first issue in June 11, 1991 in the City of Tagbilaran and the major towns of the province of Bohol. On its 8th year, the local newspaer was awarded by the Philippine Press Institute (PPI) as Best in Editorial Page among all community newspapers in the country becoming the first newspaper in the province to clinch such a coveted award from respected peers in the field of journalism. The same year, the paper also got final nomination as one of the Best Edited newspaper from among the community newspapers in the country. The paper today has evolved into one of Bohol’s leading voices in demanding transparency and accountability among government officials and employees. It continues to banner responsible dissent, and still adheres to the age-old adage of comforting the afflicted and afflicting the comfortable.
